I. Community Partners

Ideally, students work with a broad range of community partners, and strive to connect with our school, local, national, and international communities. Last year seniors worked in partnership with the Riverdale school board, our neighbor Lewis and Clark College, Portland Public Schools, Native American Youth and Family Center, Portland State University, The League of Women Voters, and The Oregon Food Bank, among others.

We are fortunate to have a service-learning coordinator who helps students develop ideas and make contact with outside organizations. The service-learning coordinator helps students understand the difference between volunteering (a one-shot deal), and a service-learning project (sustainable, creates lasting change, involves academic skill, serves an ongoing need felt by the organization, and relates to the student’s academic work).
