DT2. Training - Increase the capacity of nonprofits, schools and civic groups to effectively work with volunteers of all skill and age levels as they utilize volunteers and students as an increasing part of their workforce.

DT3. K-20 Service Learning - Student engagement, academic achievement, and civic engagement are increased through quality service-learning. Service-learning will become an intentional part of the instructional repertoire of educators and an intentional part of community problem solving.
- Support the development of curriculum-based service-learning that promotes rigorous learning and authentic service through networks, trainings, resources and professional learning communities
- Promote awareness of the Elements of Effective Practice and how they can be used as framework to continuously improve practice
- Support the creation academic and co-curricular service opportunities for students to develop the skills and habits of citizenship
- Encourage and recognize the engagement of faculty and students in community-based scholarship that addresses authentic societal concerns

- Establish a web presence that "advertises" opportunities, matching people to needs
- Develop a sense of community for those who develop community online
- Utilize social marketing to promote service opportunities to specific audiences
- Explore the best way to use technology to provide ongoing training and support for students, nonprofits, civic organizations and educators

- Increase student and public understanding of how various sectors of the community- private, public, non-profit faith-base- contribute to the life of the community

- Promote civic conversations that build understanding and explore a range of solutions
- Establish ways for people to inform government officials as they create and carry out public policy, and to work with officeholders to solve public problems
