V. Action

For an entire week in December, students were scheduled into their interviews. They were excused from their morning classes and either went to the Little Bear Creek Assisted Living Facility or remained at Windward High School to meet with their interviewees.

The interviews were scheduled for one hour, but the students were able to extend that time if needed. Each group member was given an assigned role for the interview, by the English teacher. Students were the question-asker, the note-taker or the digital recording expert. If there were more than three people in the group there would be two note-takers.

Here is a sample of one student’s notes from an interview with Lummi Elder Mary Helen Cagey.
